Mauna Kea

Sunday, we took a trip up to Mauna Kea hoping to see more snow since it rained down here recently. Most of the snow had melted but we did drive up to the top and viewed the outside of a few observatories before altitude sickness/nausea forced us to go down sooner than planned.

We did stay for some time at the 9000 ft level where the Visitor's Center was and then drove out to an area where we could have picnics (when it is warm and sunny) and climb the cinder cone behind us. We took Mike and Leilani with us who are friends from the same condo complex we live in.

Here is another example of the stunning views that are available from Mauna Kea. This was with another friend from Arizona visiting in 2005
